Sunland makes its foray into southern strip
Gold Coast Bulletin | 11 October 2008

THE Sunland Group is taking its renowned design panache down to the southern end of the Gold Coast for the first time with the launch today of a 187-home project at Tugun.

The Parc, a medium-density townhouse community fronting a lake, is being built on land adjoining John Flynn Private Hospital.

The $84 million project, in keeping with its name, will be heavily laced with parkland.

Sunland general manager David McMahon said The Parc was intended to become a benchmark for such communities at the southern end of the Coast.

"It incorporates, and refines, all the designs and finishes that have helped Sunland win awards for two similar projects on the Coast," said Mr McMahon.

"It is our first venture at the southern end of the Gold Coast and we are determined to put our best foot forward to show the 'locals' that our reputation for design flair and quality is justified."

Mr McMahon said Sunland expected The Parc to receive a great reception in the market because it would fill a void.

"Tugun has only seen a limited supply of new housing stock in recent years and this is putting upward pressure on resale homes," he said.

The Parc is being undertaken in five stages on a 6.726ha property in Inland Drive which was bought for $16.975 million in 2006 and is the balance of land on which Pacific Exchange Corporation started the Pacific Beach estate several years ago.

The site's size has allowed Sunland to include six master-planned parks in The Parc.

They will be connected to landscaped community and recreation areas adjoining the lake, which will be circled by a walkway and cycle track.

The Parc's three-bedroom attached homes will be double-storey, have air-conditioned living areas, and will provide parking for two vehicles.

Interiors will include stone benchtops, natural-gas cooktops, tiled living areas, walk-in wardrobes and en suites in the master bedrooms, mirror wardrobes in the second and third bedrooms, and roller blinds.

The Parc will have a 17m lap pool, swimming pool with jets, steam room, dual barbecue areas, a residents' lounge, and a public walking and cycling track around the lake.

The first stage of the project is under way, and prices for the first homes range from $415,000 to $510,000.

The project comes as the area is being discovered by many buyers. According to REIQ research the median townhouse price for the suburb climbed by 19.2 per cent in the March quarter, to $447,000.
