Construction commences on $150m Redcliffe Project
June 2009 Construction is underway on the two towers at one of southeast Queensland’s most dynamic projects of 2009, the $150 million mixed-use Mon Komo development on the Redcliffe peninsula.
The announcement by Sydney-based Kyko Group comes at a time when many construction industry projects have been delayed or abandoned in Queensland due to the current global financial crisis.
National construction company St Hilliers Contracting was last month appointed to build Mon Komo, which is expected to provide approximately 700 jobs on-site.
The construction commencement follows the recent demolition of the former Seabrae Hotel which was located on the Redcliffe site. The development is scheduled to be finished in late 2010.
Also recently completed across the road from the development site was a new sales display centre for Mon Komo, which features a 150 square metre fully appointed display apartment.
Kyko Group’s managing director Mary Wong Jenkings says the commencement of construction is an important milestone for the company.
“I’m delighted to see Mon Komo taking shape – the commencement of construction is an important milestone for the Kyko Group. We have developed many successful commercial and residential projects, however Mon Komo is our first in
“Mon Komo’s stylish architecture - which has a strong influence from the design of luxury Caribbean resorts - will enhance what is a spectacular and historic site overlooking Moreton Bay by retaining Redcliffe’s relaxed seaside village charm.
“The area is undergoing a surge in development which has started the transformation of the picturesque peninsula into one of the most desirable, and accessible, lifestyle destinations in southeast
More than $1 billion in new development and infrastructure is currently planned or underway in Redcliffe including the $315 million
Mon Komo will feature 184 residential and short-stay apartments, a new hotel (pub), boutique commercial offices and retail space spread across two 12-storey towers with sweeping views overlooking
Adrian Parsons from TOTAL Project Marketing, who is marketing the project, says Mon Komo is catering to a demand for luxury apartment developments at Redcliffe.
“Since the market launch of Mon Komo, at Easter earlier this year, we have fielded strong interest from both locally based
“Until Mon Komo and other major infrastructure projects came online the peninsula was a sleepy seaside village, but now it’s being transformed into a cosmopolitan lifestyle destination and attracting a new breed of buyers to the region.
“One of the main factors behind Redcliffe’s transformation is accessibility to Brisbane thanks to infrastructure upgrades and the emergence of contemporary development projects such as Mon Komo.”
Mon Komo is designed for both end-users and investors, with the 108 apartments in tower one “Mon Komo Residences” aimed at owner-occupiers.
The one, two and three-bedroom apartments will boast large balconies (some will have private terraces), study areas, and luxury features and fittings including ducted air-conditioning, European kitchen appliances, stone benchtops and fully glazed balcony balustrades.
Tower two, “Mon Komo Apartments” will contain 76 short-stay apartments targeted at investors of equally similarly high quality. A feature will be a three-bedroom dual-key apartment on each floor, allowing one bedroom to be separately let.
Residential owner occupier apartments are priced from $380,000.
Fully furnished investment apartments, priced from $377,000 have the benefit of guaranteed rental income from the day of settlement for two years.
Each tower will have a swimming pool and gymnasium and will be accessed by spectacular symmetrical lobbies with soaring glass-feature walls.
Mon Komo’s 2,000 plus square metre hotel (pub) will span across the ground and mezzanine levels and will include two bars, al fresco dining areas overlooking Marine Parade and function centre.
There will be almost 1,000 sq metres of retail space, more than 400 sq metres of commercial office space and 458 basement car parks.
